A Singer/Songwriter based In South East England

Matthew Douglas Whittenham (Douglas & The World) started song writing in the early noughties. Briefly playing bass in a punk band, it was in 2005 that things ramped up. Matt set to writing a concept album, ‘The Good Old Days’, playing guitar and singing vocals. After meeting some interesting characters at an open mic night, he formed Cool Banana and was encouraged to play his original material by his band mates. Cool Banana were a festival kinda band, so Matt put on a series of mini festivals named The Junkyard. Constantly gigging with the band, putting on parties, then turning his hand to running a pub and music venue. This period-in-time was exciting, chaotic, fast paced, you could say rock n roll! Many good times were had, and many memories made. Matt can certainly tell a good yarn. But good times can be too good. ‘The Good Old Days’ had to take a back seat. Matt took a ten year break away from music, until, one ordinary day he remembered ‘The Good Old Days’. He picked up his guitar, found his musical mojo again and started playing, fully focused on finishing what he’d started. Now ‘The Good Old Days – A Rock ‘n’ Roll Story (concept album)’ is out now for your ears to enjoy. This evocative, nostalgic album with vibes of the late 60’s and 70’s, written in the noughties, and finished in 2025. There is a graphic novel version of "The Good Old Days" in the works, Matt is also back in the studio in December to record the follow up album.
